Bus Fares Information
Important Rules
- Every time you board the bus, you must pay the cash fare or present the driver with a pass, token or transfer.
- You must have exact change when paying the cash fare. Unfortunately, GO Transit drivers do not carry change. Passengers must deposit their own cash into the farebox. Passengers who do not have exact fare may deposit cash in excess of the proper fare, and the driver, when witnessing this, will issue a receipt that can be presented at the Transit Office for a refund.
- Monthly passes are good for unlimited rides on routes within the city during the calendar month or months printed on the front of the pass. They are available for purchase two weeks before the start of each month.
- Monthly pass users must clearly print their name on the pass.
- Monthly passes are valid for only one user (non-transferrable). Violation of this rule results in pass confiscation.
- Unlike monthly passes, punch passes can be used by multiple riders.
How do I purchase a pass?
- You are now able to purchase bus passes through the Token Transit app. Click here to download.
- All passes and tokens are sold at GO Transit's Office at 926 Dempsey Trail. Additionally, monthly passes are sold at pass outlets throughout the City. See Pass Outlets section below for more info.
- Monthly and Punch Passes can also be purchased by mailing the full payment with a Pass Mail Order Form to GO Transit 926 Dempsey Trail, Oshkosh, WI 54902. Click here for a copy of the Pass Mail Order Form. Click here for a copy of the EAA Mail Order Form. Acceptable payment includes a check or money order for the full amount of the fare requested. Checks should be made out to "GO Transit".
- Twenty (20) ride punch passes can be purchased from all drivers and at the Transit Office. There is no expiration date, just present it to the driver and they will punch it once. On the twentieth ride, the driver will collect the card. If you want to transfer, ask for a transfer when presenting the punch pass.
Transfers
(Only applicable to bus service)
What is a transfer?
A transfer is a receipt issued to a passenger by the bus driver after a fare is paid. A transfer is needed when you cannot get to your final destination on the first bus you board and need to transfer to a second bus to access another route. Transfers are free, but must be used within 60 minutes. Any passenger may ask for a transfer when boarding the bus after the fare is paid. You should also tell the driver which bus route you will be transferring to.
Where can I transfer?
Transfers are accepted at multiple bus stops and transfer points throughout the system. Common timed transfer points include the Downtown Transit Center, West Transfer Point, Walmart, and Mallard Ave/Grove St.
Notes:
- GO Transit will honor late transfers when normal service is interrupted.
